The story of Dragon Ball New Horizon is set in an alternative universe that strays away from the original events of the Dragon Ball series.
Our story is set 200 years after the Tournament of power, Age 980.

The existence of Ki has become more well-known on Earth, though its actual use is still uncommon. The Capsule Corporation grew even larger than it was before, developing multiple products outside of capsules including cell phones, electric self-driving cars, and more. They’ve made an effort to stay out of the military industry however, the CEO feeling concerned about their technology falling into the wrong hands.

The Earth Defense Force (EDF), Earth’s military faction, realized that they were hilariously outgunned by the superpowered beings of the past and will likely be again if new planetary level threats emerged. The military leaders begged the President for more funding, but without the Capsule Corp’s help, there was no way for them to get up to speed. At least, not legally…

With no other option, they turned to the newly revived Red Ribbon Army (RRA). They had been quietly growing in power over the last few years, having an underground base beneath East City. The government had discovered them not too long ago and had been keeping them under surveillance to monitor their activity. Desperate, they made a deal to fund their labs and facilities as long as the RRA made weapons for the GDF under the table, or else their entire group would be taken down and its members arrested on the spot. The RRA agreed to their terms and began turning the average soldier into a Cybernetically Enhanced Trooper (C.E.T) who could rival the likes of any ki user. Things were beginning to look up, though the RRA secretly began to pour any spare resources towards their… more devious projects. However, the threats that would soon face Earth’s people would not only be domestic.

The genocide of the Saiyans had been completely undone with the dragon balls shortly after the Tournament of Power, and the entirety of the Saiyan people now reside on a new Planet Vegeta. They have returned to their war-mongering ways, and dominated a portion of the galaxy. They managed to fight back small portions of the Planet Trade Organization's forces that were sent to dismantle them, managing to keep the PTO on the other side of the galaxy waging multiple wars on distant planets. They attacked Namek, forcing the Namekians to use the dragon balls to scatter themselves across the universe to survive. With Namek conquered, they had set their sights on Planet Cereal, home of the Cerealians. After an honorable struggle, the Cerealians were eventually forced to retreat with a few survivors. Having lost their home and seeking vengeance, they’ve joined the Galactic Patrol to not only try and stop the Saiyan advance but to eventually reclaim their home that was unjustly taken from them.

With the New Saiyan Empire having expanded to three planets, they have turned their attention toward their next target: Earth.
